These photos are an artist copy of the nameless piece by Carle Van Loo. A high quality version of the image can be accessed at this link: https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/P_1894-0516-45 I had accidentally identified this piece as one of Raphael's works initially, but later discovered its true artist, who I've actually never heard of! For this assignment, the goal was to capture the artist's "mark" in order to recreate that mark in a later project. I started this project on September 19th, and worked on it off and on until October 23rd. I used various shades of conté to create this piece. I started by working on the figure to the left, which did not go very well. I had used too dark of a shade, and had to use a lighter shade to bring out a lighter tone, which muddied the surface a bit. This is most noticeable on the back of the left figure. However, by the time I got to the figure on the right, I think I figured out the mark relatively well. I made short lines, and I took extra time shading it in and blending the colors together, which created an effect I am quite proud of.
